Lukey

Stephanie McElroy inquired a while back about photos for her baby boy. I was upfront with her and I let her know that I had stopped photographing kids many years ago simply because I was never able to find the gateway to this beautiful art of photographing kids... I say that not because “I don’t like kids”, I do, I am just not an experienced photographer when it comes to children. I rather channel a client to someone that specializes in children, rather than getting my feet wet in lands I don’t know and deliver mediocre work that I’m unfamiliar with. Honesty is my love language...

I’ve known Stephanie since 2008 and she is also my dental hygienist (So I do trust her!). Sometimes, you do awesome things for the friends you love, like stepping out of your comfort zone and photographing an-almost-one-year-old baby boy! So I trusted her when she said she wanted me to photograph Lukey’s one year photos!

For this session we decided on a “sunrise session”, meaning you wake up VERY early and hope for the best with what you have planned! Thankfully, Stephanie mentioned Lukey was a morning baby…and HE WAS! (His sister, not so much!) I still think I will stick to portraits (adult people) and weddings though. Lukey has me convinced I should specialize in kids as well, but I rather stay on my own lane and let the kids’ pros do this!

Luke turns one year old on August 18th and he goes by “Luke, Lukey, Lukers, Big Boy”. His parents, Stepahnie and Aaron McElroy describe Luke as:

“A fun boy! He gets into absolutely everything that is not nailed to the ground. The definition of a Momma’s boy! And he LOVES his veggies! I couldn’t ask for a better caboose to our family”

I loved photographing Lukey! He loved to explore the location we were at and he also enjoyed his cake for a few seconds! I think Luke is going to be a fisherman - he stared at the boats nearby instead of looking at the camera!
